A leather harness for big, strong dogs. Cut from tough cowhide, this heavy-duty dog harness spreads the load across the chest and shoulders instead of the throat – the main reason owners of strong dogs switch from a collar to a harness.
It comes in four sizes covering a 40cm to 110cm chest girth, in dark brown or black. Leather softens and darkens with use, so the harness moulds to your dog over the first few weeks of daily walks.

Material
Cowhide is the standard leather for working dog equipment. It is thicker and more abrasion-resistant than synthetic webbing, it does not fray at the edges, and it holds its shape under load. Unlike nylon it is not waterproof, so it needs occasional conditioning to stay supple, see Care below.
Size guide
Measure around the widest part of your dog's ribcage, just behind the front legs, with a soft tape. Choose the size whose range your measurement sits in. Inch measurements are approximate conversions.

Fit notes
M and L overlap between 50cm and 58cm. If your dog sits in that band and is still growing or has a deep chest, choose L. If your dog measures 68cm to 70cm, between L and XL, choose XL. A correct fit lets you slide two fingers flat under any strap, without the harness twisting or riding up towards the throat when the dog pulls. Allow 1-2cm tolerance on the chest ranges.
Styling
Pairs with a leather or rope lead in a matching brown or black. A leather harness looks better with age, and pairs well with a matching collar for ID tags.
Care
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth; do not machine wash or soak
- Dry naturally away from radiators and direct heat
- Condition with leather balm every few months, or after it gets wet
- Check stitching and hardware regularly, and retire the harness if either shows wear
